Psalm 104

Being on break as a college student has its perks and its disadvantages. One of the perks is plenty of relaxation time. A disadvantage is that it sometimes feels very wasteful. So in order to fill my time up with doing productive things, my friend, Abbie Bauer, recommended that i start a blog. i think a blog is great because no one can interrupt you. its time where you can just rant about whatever you want to. And since i do like to rant, i think that this will be good for me.

I have been having a hard time getting into the word, which is really bad considering i feel called to enter the ministry as a preacher. But i am not dwelling on the past, but only looking forward on how i can change the future. I did not know where to begin studying the word, but i ended up in Psalms 104. According to my Liberty University Bible commentary, the original manuscripts of the old testament give David the credit as the author of this Psalm, even though the Author is not specifically stated. This Psalm is a poetic retelling of the creation story in Genesis 1. Although i do not believe in a six literal day creation as written in Genesis, this Psalm reminded me that God did contribute and is currently contributing to the functioning of earth and universe. It reminded me that i am so small compared to God. Sometimes i get very prideful. I think that i can make a difference and make a change in this world. Which is not totally incorrect because i can make a difference. But this Psalm reminded me that in the grand scheme of things... I MEAN NOTHING!!! hows that for encouragement. In absolute hugeness (if thats even a word) of God, i am so insignificant. But it does not stop there. Although i am so tiny in the comparison of God, for some reason God wants me to have a relationship with him. Out of all of the human beings in all of time.... God still cares about me and the problems i am dealing with.

Psalm 104 was a great reminder on how enormous God and the universe are, which in resulted in me realizing how tiny i am. it helps me keep my head from swelling to big . Thank you Lord for caring, even when i do not deserve it.

  2. Sweet! I'm proud, your first legit (that's right I said legit) blog post. Way to go, son. This is a good reminder for me as well, to know how big and how powerful God is and still know that he cares for us and loves us as his own. That's pretty cool to even think about: that the God of the universe being so great and so significant could spend his time loving us. It's pretty crazy to wrap your mind around it. But good post sir. Way to do something productive with your life. Oh and hugeness is a word by the way...I checked.
